Summer Highlights

This summer was full of fun and impact at Inside Education! We welcomed teachers from across Canada for our Biodiversity in the Boreal professional development program, celebrated the A+ for Energy Kick-Off Workshop with 20 funded school projects and refreshed our educational resources, classroom and field programs to ensure they are up-to-date with current content and engaging activities.

Biodiversity in the Boreal Teacher Professional Development Program

July 2-6, 2025

Travelling Program: Edmonton - Lac La Biche - Fort McMurray

An experience-based program for educators to gain firsthand information about the innovations and technologies used to monitor, manage, protect and reclaim the unique landscapes and species that live in Alberta’s Boreal. We had the opportunity to experience Northern Alberta, tour the oil sands, including mining and in-situ operations. Teachers left with a network of colleagues from across Canada and empowered with knowledge and resources to share with their students.

We just wrapped up the A+ for Energy Kick-Off Workshop with 20 school recipients that will be receiving funding to implement energy education projects. A+ for Energy sees schools receiving $5000 to implement creative energy education projects that leave a lasting legacy in the school and community. The workshop featured energy speakers, tours of bitcoin mining and direct air carbon removal, along with a celebration lunch at Platform Calgary.

Inside Education’s work brings us to all corners of the province, as such, we acknowledge the Indigenous Peoples in the area currently known as Alberta. The relationship the Peoples of Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Treaty 8 and Alberta’s Métis Peoples have with the land is founded on a deep respect for the environment. This connection forms the foundation of our personal responsibility for stewardship of the environment, a connection Inside Education strives to foster among students and teachers through our diverse programming.
