Roots, Ranches and Rivers Summer Institute
July 6-10, 2026
Travelling Program: Red Deer - Lethbridge
The Roots, Ranches and Rivers Summer Institute was a five-day immersive experience for teachers to discover innovations, technology, and practices that connect water and agriculture and contribute to climate resiliency across east-central and southern Alberta. Throughout the week, participants heard from a wide range of experts, including producers, academics, non-profit organizations, and other key players in the agriculture and agri-food industry.
“I have tremendous appreciation for this PD opportunity. The information and experience is invaluable. It filled my “bucket” to be able to connect and network with other teachers. The organizers were absolutely amazing with every tiny detail from summarizing the presentations to making sure we all had everything we needed”
-Nicole Rousseau, St Augustine School, Ponoka
100% of respondents indicated that the PD was a great networking opportunity and a high-value learning opportunity.

A+ for Energy 20th Anniversary + Teacher Program
August 24-25, 2026
Calgary
We just wrapped up the A+ for Energy Kick-Off Workshop with 20 school recipients who will be receiving funding to implement energy education projects this school year. The A+ for Energy program gives schools $5,000 to implement creative energy education projects that leave a lasting legacy in the school and community.
The workshop featured energy speakers from Ozone Bio Tour, Alberta Carbon Conversion Technology Center, and SAIT’s Green Building Technology Access Center!
A big thank you to Curtis Cymbalak from Cenovus Energy for joining the fun and presenting to our A+ for Energy recipients about energy innovation!
