Program Details

Today’s natural resource careers are more diverse and technologically advanced than ever! When helping students choose a career path, it is important to give them the exposure and experience they need to find the right path for them. Inside Education would like to invite teachers in northeast Alberta to bring a team of students to join us on the Alberta Boreal Careers project, a unique approach to careers education.

In this program, your students will take part in a variety of tours, hands-on workshops, and speaker sessions that will tell the stories of professionals working in energy and environment fields and give students a first-hand look at development in northeastern Alberta.

Program notes:

✅ Thanks to our funders, Inside Education’s programs are no-cost!

✅ We welcome applications for a small cohort of interested Grade 9 - 12 students

In this program, students gain:

  • Exposure to a wide range of careers in energy, environment, natural resources, technology, and related fields
  • Real-world experience — Opportunities to see workplaces, projects, and technologies firsthand rather than learning only in the classroom
  • Hands-on learning — Tours, workshops, and interactive experiences help students connect classroom concepts to practical applications
  • Career awareness — Students learn about career pathways they may not have previously considered
  • Industry connections — Students are able to ask questions and learn about different career journeys directly from experts
  • Understanding of local industries — Students gain insight into the industries and economic activities that shape northeastern Alberta

Inside Education’s work brings us to all corners of the province, as such, we acknowledge the Indigenous Peoples in the area currently known as Alberta. The relationship the Peoples of Treaty 6, Treaty 7, and Treaty 8 and Alberta’s Métis Peoples have with the land is founded on a deep respect for the environment. This connection forms the foundation of our personal responsibility for stewardship of the environment, a connection Inside Education strives to foster among students and teachers through our diverse programming.
