Shafak's Bio
Shafak Sajid is a Senior Principal Consultant at Neighbourly Advisory Inc., bringing more than 15 years of experience advising industry, government, Indigenous communities, and non-profit organizations on complex policy, stakeholder engagement, and community investment initiatives. A Young Women in Energy award winner, she is known for her strategic thinking and collaborative leadership, she specializes in building partnerships and developing practical solutions that create shared value for communities and project proponents.
Throughout her career, Shafak has held senior roles across Canada’s energy and public policy sectors. Her experience includes advancing Indigenous economic participation through innovative financing and equity ownership models, leading stakeholder and Indigenous engagement for major energy and carbon management projects, and supporting advocacy and policy initiatives across the natural resources sector. She has a proven track record of helping organizations navigate complex regulatory, community, and partnership environments while fostering long-term relationships built on trust and mutual benefit.
Shafak holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Sociology and Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences. As a published thought leader and active community volunteer, she is committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen community capacity, foster innovation, and create pathways for future generations. When she isn’t working, Shafak enjoys volunteering, being in the mountains and playing tennis.
