2026 Energy Tool Kit Workshop

Bring the climate conversation to life in the classroom with an Energy Tool Kit!

These hands-on workshops will highlight technologies and innovations that are shaping our energy future. We will learn from expert guests and share ideas for making meaningful connections to the curriculum using your new energy toolkit resources.

The workshops will introduce you to key energy topics and enhance your understanding of the energy sector, enabling you to make the most of your kit. We will also have the opportunity to dig into the kit materials and share best practices for using the tools to enhance student learning.

In this no-cost workshop, you will:

  • Hear from expert guests about current and emerging energy technologies
  • Learn tips and tricks for using your energy tool kit
  • Network with colleagues
  • Access additional energy education resources to support your classroom

The Energy Tool Kit

The Energy Tool Kit

The Energy Education Tool Kit includes all materials, activities, and lessons adapted from Inside Education’s energy programs to create an immersive energy education experience for your students. This kit is split into nine topics, each exploring a different aspect of energy. Each topic includes an introductory sheet, activities, and opportunities to connect and learn more.

The Energy Tool Kit has multiple curricular connections and is best suited for Grades 4-9, but can be adapted for other grades as well. Each kit includes over $350 worth of equipment and everything you need to guide your students through the activities.

This program is open to teachers from across Alberta. Multiple teachers from each school are welcome to attend the workshop; however, only one tool kit per school is available.

Note: You must participate in the workshop to receive your kit.

Workshops

We have 100 tool kits available, and we are limiting distribution to one kit per school. Successful teachers/schools will be selected based on their applications demonstrating enthusiasm for enhancing energy education at their schools and a commitment to using the tool kit in their classes.

Teachers are eligible to receive a supply teacher OR travel subsidy to help facilitate their attendance.

Supply teacher: Should the program occur during a regular school day, Inside Education will cover the cost of your supply teacher to a maximum of $150 for the full-day program.

Note: you will need to provide the actual supply teacher invoice.

Travel Subsidy: A maximum of $500/person may be requested to help offset travel costs if you are required to travel more than 150 km one-way to the program start location. Inside Education must approve all travel plans and subsidies before the program.

Participants must arrange their own travel.
