The Energy Education Tool Kit includes equipment and activities adapted from Inside Education’s energy programs to create an immersive energy education experience for your students. The content explores 8 key topics that shape the energy in Alberta including:

- Electricity Generation
- Renewable & Alternative Energy
- Fossil Fuels
- Energy Storage
- Energy Efficiency & Conservation
Building on the success of our CARE Kit and modelled after our Forest Field Trip Tool Kit that was developed earlier this year we are curating the best tools, technologies and interactive energy activities for you! Along with a full teachers guide you will receive all the equipment including energy meters, renewable energy models, solar cars, natural resource samples and more! (value ~$350). Not only will you get it for free we will show you how to use all the equipment and facilitate meaningful curriculum connected activities.
NOTE: only 1 Energy Education Tool Kit per school but multiple teachers may attend the professional development program.
What’s involved in the PD workshop?
This hands-on virtual workshop will introduce you to key energy topics and allow you to explore your tool kit in a meaningful way. You will enhance your own understanding of energy in Alberta which will enable you to make the most of your kit. We will be inviting experts that represent mutliple perspectives to share insights on current and emerging energy topics. We will also have the opportunity to dig into the kit materials and share best practices for using the tools to enhance student learning.

Date: January 29, 2021
Time: TBC (1/2 day session morning or afternoon)
Format: Virtual Session *participants are required to have a working camera, microphone and have their energy tool kits available for the session
You will leave the program with a deeper understanding of energy topics, an expanded network of educators and feeling energized to guide your students through a unique exploration of energy in Alberta!

IMPORTANT – Read the fine print
Inside Education wants to ensure that as many teachers and schools as possible can experience, learn from and enjoy this professional development opportunity and the energy education tool kit. Here’s what you need to know before you apply:
We have 100 tool kits available and we are limiting distribution to one kit / per school. Successful teachers/schools will be selected based on their application demonstrating enthusiasm for enhancing energy education at their school and their commitment to utilizing the tool kit in their classes.
Supply teacher: Should the program occur during a regular school day Inside Education will cover the full cost of your supply teacher. Note: you will need to supply the actual supply teacher invoice
*Only 1 tool kit per school, however mutliple teachers may attend the workshop. All schools receiving a tool kit are required to have a minimum of 1 teacher attend the workshop.
**Energy tool kits will be distributed prior to the session, schools that fail to have a representative attend the PD session will be required to return the tool kit at their own expense or make a $350 donation to Inside Education.
