Inside Education Presents….
Alberta Boreal Careers (ABC) Project
Today’s natural resource careers are more diverse and technologically advanced than ever! When helping students choose a career path, it is important to provide them with the exposure and experience they need to help find the path that is right for them!
Inside Education would like to invite teachers in northeast Alberta to bring a team of students to join us on the Alberta Boreal Careers project, a unique approach to careers education. On this program your students will take part in a variety of tours, hands-on workshops, and speaker sessions that will tell the stories of professionals working in energy and environment fields and give students a first hand look at development in northeastern Alberta.
Program Details
During this program, students will:
- Tour active work sites, including SAG-D and forestry sites
- Visit field-based environmental research projects and learn about new findings in land, air, water & wildlife topics
- Hear from employees and employers in government, industry, and research organizations
- Overnight stay at a work lodge in the oil sands region (to be confirmed!)
- A focus on technical/operational and scientific-based careers, Indigenous involvement and post-secondary programming options
- Dynamic and specialized workshops, sessions and social events
The program is open to Grade 9-12 students across Alberta, but preference will be given to rural, Indigenous and northern schools! We encourage teachers to select teams of interested students rather than whole classes.
Like all Inside Education programs, ABC is completely no-cost, and busing, accommodations, and meals are all included in the program scholarship!
