Ron started his career with TransAlta, and has worked in many different areas of the business over the years, including substation design, sustainable development, coal-fired and gas-fired generation, and most recently hydro. He is a subject matter expert on electrical safety.

With a background in biological sciences, love for engaging learners and a knack for finding the fun in any activity, Meghan has experience in teaching within traditional classrooms and informal education environments.
Lisa Pollio | Program Manager, Careers in Energy (Energy Safety Canada)

Lisa joined Energy Safety Canada (ESC) as a Program Manager in 2013, after six years of working in the oil sands region of Fort McMurray. Lisa learned valuable field experience as a Health, Safety and Environment Advisor and then transitioned to a Disability Management role. This hands-on knowledge allowed her to obtain the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
Being part of the Training and Industry Development and Support teams at ESC has enabled Lisa to bring her expertise of our sector to the Careers in Energy group. An adventurer at heart, Lisa loves spending her free time in the mountains or travelling to different parts of the world with her family.

Maureen Kolla | Solas Energy, Director of Grid Modernization & ESG

Maureen Kolla has over eight years of experience in the renewable and alternative energy sector, most in technology development and funding. Maureen joined Solas Energy in 2021 after leading and growing the Renewable and Alternative Energy program with Alberta Innovates.
Skilled in research, strategic planning, project funding and proposal development, technical evaluations, fostering collaborative relationships, and effective communications, she brings a diverse skillset. Maureen developed funding programs to support geothermal energy, energy storage, smart grid, and clean technologies. She has a deep understanding of the Alberta electricity framework and the electricity industry.
Maureen is the founder of the Alberta Smart Grid Consortium, which consists of the Alberta Distribution Facility Owners, the Alberta Ministry of Energy, and Alberta Innovates. Maureen holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta and a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University.
