Fei completed her BSc in environmental engineering at the University of Alberta. Her research is related to the reuse of an industrial waste material (called bauxite residue produced from the alumina refinery industry) for wastewater treatment application (mainly oil sands process-affected water). Through her research, she wants to share the idea that all wastes are valuable products.

Ron started his career with TransAlta, and has worked in many different areas of the business over the years, including substation design, sustainable development, coal-fired and gas-fired generation, and most recently hydro. He is a subject matter expert on electrical safety.

Catherine Magnan is a hands-on leader and team builder with 25 years of experience working in the oil and natural gas sector. She currently leads Canadian Natural Resourcehttps://www.facebook.com/CanadianNaturals Limited’s Water Technology portfolio. Her team is responsible for developing new water treatment and steam generation technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and water use.
Throughout her career, Catherine has led diverse teams in the search for solutions in the areas of capital deployment, regulatory strategy, and technology and innovation. She holds a degree from the University of Manitoba in Civil Engineering and is known for her passion for bringing people together to deliver business results.
Vanessa White | Director, Renewable and Alternative Energy, Alberta Innovates

Vanessa is the Director, Renewable and Alternative Energy in the Clean Resources Division at Alberta Innovates, where she contributes to the advancement of grid modernization in Alberta through ecosystem development and supporting technology initiatives in the areas of non-emitting electricity generation, energy storage and enabling technologies.
Prior to joining Alberta Innovates, Vanessa spent more than 20 years in the upstream petroleum industry, where she drove innovation and developed her diverse background in project management, technology development and pilot operation. Vanessa is passionate about energy literacy. In 2016, she founded a company informing elementary and junior high students about the value of diversity in the Canadian energy portfolio.
Vanessa is a Professional Engineer and past member of the Board of Directors for the Society of Petroleum Engineers Canadian Educational Foundation (SPECEF) where she was the founding chair of the organization’s Energy Literacy Committee. Vanessa’s current board positions include the Decentralized Energy Canada’s Board of Directors and Foresight Clean Tech Accelerator’s Alberta Advisory Board.
Vlad Zatonski | Sr. Technology Development Engineer, Eavor

Vlad Zatonski is a Professional Engineer, with 15+ years of experience in the energy industry, holding varied roles including: closed loop geothermal, thermal, unconventional, offshore and new ventures oil and gas roles. Vlad is passionate about risk and uncertainty analysis, data analytics, and application of engineering principles to solve complex problems.
Vlad holds a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering with a Petroleum minor and a Master’s in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary. Vlad is registered as a P.Eng with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geologists of Alberta (APEGA) and holds a membership with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
