When your students think about pursuing a career in the forest do they think about this?
- Over 57,000 Albertans are employed directly or indirectly in the Forest Sector
- Alberta predicts a shortage of 49,000 skilled workers by 2025.
- A forestry degree could lead to a career as an environmental management assessing climate change impacts and watersheds, or as a GIS Analyst that uses drones and high tech mapping equipment to map and understand wildfire/forest pests & disease.
This two-day program will see the forest through the trees as we explore the education requirements, salary and future opportunities that cover everything from the skilled labourer to the professional.
This program is designed for career counsellors, teachers, and administrators from across Alberta. You will meet with experts, participate in tours and gain day-in-the-life experiences that will give you knowledge and resources that you can share with your students.
