Professional development programs are designed to enhance teacher - and ultimately student - understanding of forest, water, energy and environment topics.

Programs vary from one-day sessions to ten-day summer institutes and include:

  • fascinating tours and interactive demonstrations
  • discussions with academics and conservation groups
  • presentations from government and industry

If you are an educator and interested in attending one of these programs you must apply before the application deadline.  All applications received before the application deadline are given equal consideration. Your application is evaluated based on several criteria, for example:

  • where you teach – we make an effort to have a geographically diverse group and
    balance urban with rural
  • what you teach – preference is given to candidates that teach topics related to the
    program we offer
  • whether you have been on a similar program before – we want many people to
    experience our programs

Successful applicants are provided with full scholarships to attend programs at no-cost.
This includes:

  • program travel
  • all accommodations and meals during the course of the program
  • $150 subsidy towards substitute teacher costs for each school day of the program (if applicable)
  • plenty of teaching resources and knowledge you can take back to the classroom.
