Oil Sands Education Program – June 1-3, 2017
The Athabasca oil sands are the largest known reservoir of crude bitumen in the world and the largest of three major oil sands deposits in Alberta. This introductory program will uncover the processes to get oil of the ground while providing context around issues, discussions, and multiple perspectives. 1. Dates & Times:
Start time: 8:00 am on Thursday, June 1
End time: ~1:00 pm on Saturday, June 3
*The program will start and end in Fort McMurray. We strongly recommend participants arrive the evening of May 31.*
2. Location & Accommodations & Transportation
All accommodations will be provided, including hotels for May 31, 2017. Rooms have 2 queen beds and will be same gender, double occupancy. If you know someone on the program and would like to share a room with them, make sure to note it on your confirmation form.

4. Risk, Hazard, and Mitigation, and Photo Release
Please read the forms linked in the drop-down menu above titled “What forms will I need to sign?” before your arrival to the program.
5. Flight Travel Subsidy
We can provide up to $400 subsidy to help offset your costs! You will be responsible for booking your own flights, and Inside Education will reimburse you after the program is over. More details to come on how to claim your travel subsidy! We strongly advise you to fly in the evening of May 31. We will finish the program at the airport on June 3, and should be there by 1:00 pm. Please book your return flights accordingly.
6. Supply Teacher Subsidy – Please note, due to significant costs incurred for program flights, unlike most Inside Education PD programs, we are NOT offering any subsidies for supply teachers.
