Renewable Energy & Climate Change / A+ for Energy

Congratulations on your acceptance to Inside Education’s  Professional Development Program. Here are all the details you need to help you start planning for this one-of-a-kind learning adventure that informs and inspires your teaching! 

DATES, TIMES, & LOCATION
 Our program begins at the Delta Hotel By Marriott Calgary South (see map). For local participants, the Southland C train station is 10 minutes' walk from the hotel.

Program Start:  Sunday, August 25 at 11:30 am
Program End: Monday, August 26 at 8:30 pm  (NOTE: Tuesday, August 27 is focused on the A+ for Energy grant recipients and is therefore optional for all others.)

THE PROGRAM
Tours and sessions and more, oh my! You can see our general program schedule here. This includes the optional August 27th.

We are still confirming a few more sessions, but we can tell you we'll be touring the Shepard Energy Centre and the Brant Colony net-zero egg barn, with at least one more tour in the works!

CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDANCE
Please complete the participant details form (sent via email) to confirm your attendance to the program. This form must be completed by August 1, 2019 to secure your space on the program.

ACCOMMODATIONS
We will be staying at the Delta Hotel by Marriot Calgary South for the duration of the program. Rooms are provided at double occupancy, same gender, for Sunday night. All participants staying for Tuesday, August 27th will also be provided a hotel room for Monday night, also at double-occupancy, same gender.

Bring your swimsuit! The hotel boasts an aqua park (that's waterslide, pool AND a whirlpool!), fitness equipment, and an onsite lounge.

FOOD
We've got you covered! Inside Education will provide all meals starting with lunch on Sunday through to and including lunch on Tuesday. We pride ourselves on accommodating dietary restrictions, so please indicate your food preferences on the participant details form. We work diligently with our caterers to get them to provide delicious options!

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
We expect that participants will travel with the group and attend the full program from start to finish,  so please plan accordingly. You are responsible for making your own way to the program start location as well as your own way home after we wrap up.

MONDAY NIGHT: If you are not an A+ for Energy grant recipient, you are welcome to bid your adieus after dinner and adventures aboard the S.S. Moyie at Heritage Park on Monday, August 26. We'll provide a bus to and from the Delta Hotel, but participants who would prefer to leave directly from Heritage Park after dinner are welcome to drive themselves and pay for onsite parking. You are also free to head home before dinner; we will arrive back at the Delta Hotel by ~4:00 pm so you can say your goodbyes then!

THE PROGRAM
We are busy working with some amazing experts in the region to ensure the program provides a comprehensive look at agriculture in Alberta.

CONFIRM YOUR ATTENDANCE
Please complete this participant details form sent via email to confirm your attendance to the program. This form must be completed by September 30, 2019 to secure your space on the program.

ACCOMMODATIONS
This is a traveling program and we will be staying in hotels that are located on the program route.

FOOD
Inside Education will provide all meals starting with lunch on Day 1 through to and including lunch on our last day. We do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions, please indicate your food preferences on the participant details form.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

TRAVEL AND SUPPLY TEACHER SUBSIDY

TRAVEL SUBSIDY
Participants were responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Olds College. However, a
 travel subsidy for participants traveling more than 300 km is available. This can be used to offset the costs of flights or mileage at a rate of $0.15/km. Please download the Mileage Expense Claim and follow the instructions to submit your claim.

SUPPLY TEACHER SUBSIDY
If you require a supply teacher for the dates you will be away Inside Education can provide a supply teacher subsidy of $150/day to help offset the cost. Please review the supply teacher subsidy for details.

Mining in Alberta Program - Nov. 1-3, 2018

Thank you so much for digging deeper with us during the Mining in Alberta Teacher Professional Development Program! We were thrilled to have such a great group of engaged educators join us for this 3 day learning adventure and we can’t wait to help you share the experience with your students. Below is some follow up information from the program.

Energy and Climate Ecolab/A+ for Energy PD - Calgary - August 27-28, 2018

Thank you so much for joining us on our first ever joint PD program!

Energy & Water Summer Institute - July 3-7, 2018

This 5-day PD program took you through two Treaty lands, three watersheds, and four communities, not to mention over 1,000 kilometers through the beautiful boreal forest region of Alberta! We can’t believe it’s over, and we know it’s a while until September, but here are a few resources and follow-ups to get you through the next few months:
