How do I claim the supply teacher subsidy?

You’ll find all the details about what is covered and how to claim the subsidy in our Supply Teacher Subsidy Policy.

How do I get in touch with Inside Education after the program has started?

You can reach the main Inside Education office at 1-888-421-1497 and they can connect you with the team that is leading the program. If it is outside of regular office hours please call or text Kathryn Wagner – 403-803-8881.

What forms will I need to sign?

Inside Education values safe programs above all else. We make every effort to ensure a safe environment for all program participants, staff and guests.

Safety Mandate

No Inside Education program will put any student, teacher, participant, staff member at risk of serious injury.

On the first day of any Inside Education PD program, we will ask you to acknowledge that you are aware of the potential hazards and our risk management measures as well as sign a photo release form. Take a few moments to review these documents before the start of the program.

Forest Education Program, July 4-8, 2017
Traveling Program through Alberta’s Foothills including stops in Edmonton, Whitecourt, Hinton, Rocky Mountain House & Kananaskis!

Congratulations on your acceptance to Inside Education’s Forest Education Professional Development Program. Here are all the details you need to help you start planning for this one-of-a-kind learning adventure that will transform your classroom!

The program will start and end in Edmonton, Alberta. *Southern Alberta participants can be dropped off in Calgary 

Program Start: 11 am Tuesday July 4

Drop off location: Northern Forestry Centre, Pine Room (map) *note: cars may not be left at this location for the duration of the program, see #3 TRAVEL for details

Program End: ~4:30 pm Saturday July 8

Pick up Location: Inside Education’s Edmonton Office (map)

1. Confirm your attendance:

Please complete this online participant details form to confirm your attendance to the program. This form must be completed by Thursday June 15, 2017.

2.  Accommodations:

We will be overnighting in the following locations:

July 4 = Kanata Inn in Whitecourt / July 5 = Ramada Hotel in Edson / July 6 = Walking Eagle Hotel in Rocky Mountain House / July 7 = Biogeoscience Institute in Kananaskis.

Rooms are same gender double occupancy. If you know someone else on the program you can request your roommate on the details form.

3. Travel:

Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Edmonton.

Carpooling – if you are interested in carpooling from Calgary / Red Deer please email jswingler@insideeducation.ca and you will be put in touch with others who have expressed interest in sharing the drive.

Edmonton & Area Participants – please plan to be dropped off at the Northern Forest Centre. Note vehicles cannot be left at the Northern Forestry Centre please arrange to have a friend or taxi get you there.

Calgary & Area Participants – we will arrange a carpool from Cross Iron Mills Shopping Centre. Vehicles may be left at your own risk for the duration of the program. The charter bus will be making a stop here on Saturday July 8 as it passes through so you don’t have to double back from Edmonton.

For those >100 km from Edmonton or Calgary – we have limited parking available at our Inside Education Edmonton Office. We have reserved these spaces for you and will provide transportation to the program start location. Please arrange to be at the Inside Education office by 10:30 am on Tuesday July 4 for transportation to the program start location at the Northern Forestry Centre.

4. Food

Also an important item! Inside Education will provide all meals starting with lunch on Tuesday July 4 through to and including lunch on Saturday July 8. We do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions, please indicate your food preferences on the participant details form.

6. The Program

We are busy working with some amazing forest experts across the foothills to ensure the program provides a comprehensive look at Alberta Forests and Forestry Sector. 5. Flight Travel Subsidy

Inside Education will cover the actual cost of your airline tickets, up to $400. In order to access your flight travel subsidy, please download the PD-Travel-Expense-Claim excel file and send the completed document, along with the receipts, to Nancy Xu: nxu(at)insideeducation.ca. COSIA Oil Sands Innovation Summit, March 21 - 22, 2017

COSIA’s Oil Sands Innovation Summit

Thank you so much to the high school teachers who joined us at the Oil Sands Innovation Summit. Hosted by COSIA, Alberta Innovates and Natural Resources Canada, this exciting two-day Summit put the spotlight on how innovators from industry, research, government, academia, and the service and technology sectors from around the globe are improving the environmental performance of Canada’s oil sands.
