About Us

Inside Education™ began in 1985 when a group of government, industry, education and non-profit folks were drawn together by a common goal: to educate people about the range of values associated with the relationship between a healthy environment and a productive economy. This "bias-balanced" approach was the best way, they reasoned, to empower people to make more informed, more responsible decisions about the issues. And so they created Friends of Environmental Education Society of Alberta (FEESA for short).

 

Our founders must have been on to something because, for more than 25 years, tens of thousands of teachers and students, members of community groups and the general public have used our programming. Our partnerships have grown in strength and number, providing us with stable funding and in-kind support and, more importantly, a balance of perspectives. Today, a professional, knowledgeable full-time staff of 15 works out of offices in both Calgary and Edmonton, and we boast an Alberta Emerald Award recognizing our educational leadership.

 

On January 1, 2004 we became Inside Education™ - a name we think better reflects our ability to bring individuals inside the issues related to the environment and development. Even though our name has changed, our commitment to quality, bias-balanced education has remained as strong as ever.
