Northeast BC Water Education Tour

FALL 2012
Fort St. John, BC

British Columbia’s northeast region – situated in the boreal forest - is a region rich in beauty and diversity deriving principally from its vast water resources. This three-day program will introduce teachers to the science and issues surrounding water in the northeast.

We'll introduce the science, uses and users of water. From water use in natural gas development to hydroelectric power, water uses and users will be introduced alongside water science.

We’ll tackle some important questions:

  • What is hydraulic fracturing?

  • How is it changing natural gas development in NEBC?

  • What are the plans for the Site C Clean Energy Project?

  • How will these developments affect water in the area?

Be able to answer these questions for your students from your firsthand experiences.  We invite educators from the northeast BC region to join us as we DIVE IN to the issues and innovations that are shaping your water.

On this program you will:

  • Connect with the people, places, and perspectives that give insight into current developments

  • Gain valuable information and resources to take this learning back to your classroom

  • Discover why Northeast BC is a hub for discussion around energy and water

  • Network with other educators and industry professionals

Please note this tour is only open to teachers from the northeast BC region (School Districts 59, 60 and 81).

If you are a successful applicant, Inside Education will provide you with a full scholarship to attend the program. Your food, program travel, accommodations and all facility tours and workshops are all included in the scholarship. A stipend for your substitute teachers is also available to you, if required. More details can be found on our FAQs page.
