Energy in Alberta's Foothills Education Tour

May 10-12, 2012
Central Alberta - Rocky Mountain House

The Foothills of Alberta is an important ecoregion of our province – not only for it’s signature Alberta beauty, but also as the home of a significant source of Alberta’s energy. For many years, oil and gas development has co-existed with the region’s agricultural and tourism users and uses.

This exciting professional development opportunity highlights these important relationships and gives a peek into the past, present and future of energy development in the region.  From the science of exploration, recovery and transportation to the values of the land and land use concerns in the Foothills, we'll examine the region from a wide range of perspectives.

You will connect with the people, places, and perspectives that gives insight into this resource-rich region.  On this program, you will:

  • Gain valuable information on the science, environment and economy linking to the region’s main industries

  • Explore the foothills like you never have before with a visit to a demonstration forest and a view from above on an exclusive helicopter tour

  • Network with other educators and industry professionals
